Well as the theme is like end of the school year/ summer vacation week and seeing as I live in Australia, that kind of means that I'm in the middle of winter and halfway through the school year. So I think I'm going to talk about what I'm planning to do over the holidays and then add something onto what Chuck started off with gay marriage being made legal in New York.
SO! SUMMER (WINTER), END (MIDDLE) OF SCHOOL YEAR!
The weather's a bit I WANT TO BE LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD, down here at the moment. It'll being cold in the morning and at night and then warm during the day, which is alright I guess, but it's not warm enough to go down to the beach or something like that. So that is quite annoying, but I do prefer winter. Curling up in my trackies with a blanket and a cup of tea (or hot chocolate) whilst watching a TV show or reading Harry Potter or any other book I can get my hands on. It's the life, and it's around my birthday so it meant that we always came down to Australia to see the family which was really sweet (seeing as back then I wasn't living in Aus). My plans for the holidays aren't that well developed yet. Mainly just rehearsals, watching TV, shopping at Typo and hanging out with friends. The normal. So nothing special planned as of yet.. BUT! I am hopefully go to the UK and Ireland and France in the next 10 - 18 months, so, Sims and Toms, any good places to go and/ see?
Now, onto Gay Marriage.
First and foremost, I really happy that New York passed it. It's absolutely fantastic seeing some part of the world accept gay marriage. But if you're down here in Australia, you have Julia Gillard (our PM) going on about how we are not going to have gay marriage be legal which honestly, I find disgraceful. There are two things that I stumbled across on Tumblr, one, is a vote.. And the results as of yet? -____-
...
And then there's this. (Note: The blonde dude is Australian comedian Josh Thomas [who is gay])
Okay, first off. WTF? If we were based on the bible then she wouldn't even be Prime Minister and stoning would be legal.
Secondly; Just BLARGHGHGRHERHGHG.
I am just so.. Disappointed. I support gay marriage and I don't see why it shouldn't be made legal. If two people love each other they should be able to express that through marriage and even if they don't want to, still have the ability to do so.
So yeah, that's all for now.
Coz we currently need a little more awesomeness in the world.

This made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post. And don't despair for Australia because its not completely legal here in the US yet, we still have some very radical christians and republicans fighting against legalizing equal rights marriage. I think that its really awesome that the younger generation like you, are so open minded though! And that mindset will help the world progress. It will take time however. The people who fought for rights for blacks and for women had to fight long hard battles, and I don't see this one being any different, but in the end it will be made right. Keep your head up, and keep fighting for change. Nothing will ever change unless we stand up. And btw, your winter weather there sounds quite a lot like winter weather here in Louisiana except that its always humid! Its gross, especially if you have curly hair, which LUCKILY *sarcastic tone* I totally have! DFTBA :D -love from the US ~*~Jena'
