Hello everyone!
I am pretty excited about this week's theme. It was funny when Caitlin suggested we write about our top 5 YouTubers, as it was actually something I'd been thinking about recently. Let's dive right in, shall we?
1. The Vlogbrothers
Obviously. These guys have inspired each of us in the League with their thoughtful, entertaining, and generally awesome videos. Not much more really needs to be said.
2. Adande Thorne (aka swoozie06)
Swoozie isn't terribly well-known on YouTube, but in my opinion, he's absolutely brilliant. I found him about a year ago, and immediately got hooked on his storytelling vlogs. He's told the YouTube world about everything from his first kiss to his experiences working at the Hard Rock Hotel. He used to just sit in front of his camera and tell stories of things that happened to him, but recently he's taken to animating these stories. They're hilarious, often insightful, and highly recommended.
3. Craig Benzine (aka WheezyWaiter)
Alligator pits. Craig-with-a-wig. Clones. Banjo Face. Whale tank. Explosions Wednesdays (well, if he ever decides to make it a thing). You really have to watch his videos to understand the random awesomeness that is the WheezyWaiter universe. Unlike Swoozie and the Vlogbrothers, Wheezywaiter is pretty much just mindless entertainment from a guy with a camera. I love him.
By the way, I want a pair of Wheezy shoes, but they're really expensive. My birthday is coming up on the 18th, just so you know...
4. Charlie McDonnell (aka Charlieissocoollike)
Charlie was my introduction to the world of vlogging, and was the first person I heard use the word "nerdfighter." He's a musician, Dr. Who Nerd, and all around awesome guy. And anyway, he's cute, funny, and English; what more could you ask for?
5. Joe Penna (aka MysteryGuitarMan)
Odds are you've probably seen a Mysterguitarman video sometime in your YouTube life. He's most famous for his stop-motion guitar videos, but he does a whole lot more than just play guitar. In fact, he's more filmmaker than he is musician. Every time he comes out with a new video (once or twice a week), he blows me away with his creativity. Here's a recent one (imagine how many takes he had to do before he got the timing right!):
All of these people are just a small sample of what I like on YouTube. The reason I chose to write about these five is because they're the ones who consistently create content that I enjoy. I really recommend checking out anyone I've listed here who you haven't heard of before. It's all fun stuff-- for me, YouTube is about entertainment.
Here's a list of some other favorites who didn't quite make Top 5:
Jack Conte (jackcontemusic, pomplamoose)
Tom Milsom (hexachordal)
Truth or Fail
Vihart
Julian Smith (juliansmith87)
ImprovEverywhere
KurtHugoSchneider
Elmify
Alex Day (nerimon)
And many more...
Also, I have my own YouTube Channel, on which I occasionally post original music and stuff. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/user/WoodrowClock
Looking forward to who you all write about this week! Maybe you'll introduce me to a new YouTuber who I'll love but haven't yet heard of...
DFTBA,
Emily
