Hello : )
My name is Kim, or Kimberley if you want to be formal, but usually just Kim. I'm currently 17 bit it's actually only 8 days until my birthday, which is exciting and kind of scary since it means I'll be legal. I'll be able to vote, and drink, and have to start paying adult prices for stuff, unless of course there's student discounts at places, thank goodness for that! So yeah, it's kind of a big year when you add that to graduating high school in June and starting university (hopefully!) in the fall. Lots of changes a comin'!
One thing that's never changed though is where I live. Edmonton, Canada, right out in the prairies so winter can get a wee bit chilly. And by a wee bit I mean up to -40 chilly (fun fact about -40: it's the temperature at which Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same, so whichever system of measurement you use I'm sure you can imagine how cold that ca be.) Summer tends to be nice though even if it's a bit short lived. Have I already succumbed to talking about the weather? Maybe I should move on...
So moving on, my two main interests/hobbies/things that I spend my time on are technical theatre and art. I love everything about theatre whether I'm in the audience watching or helping bring a show to life through the tech, and if I could act at all I'd probably give that a try too but being on stage in front of people kind of freaks me out. Honestly I don't know where I'd be right now if it weren't for theatre, it's been such a huge part of my life for the past three and a bit years. As for art I definitely enjoy painting the most but anything visual and creative I like doing. Currently I'm attempting the AP Studio Art Portfolio but we'll see how that goes.
I also play piano and used to play soccer. Unfortunately I don't really have the time to keep up with soccer because of all my theatre stuff but I still love watching the game. Mostly I love living where I do except when it come to football because if you say football most people here think of the game with the brown and white ball not the white and black ball. Since we don't really have any kind of good soccer league I mostly watch games from other countries. Primarily the Hyundai A-League (Australia) and Barclay's Premier League (England), sometimes a bit of Italian Serie-A too.
Favourite books include the Harry Potter series, Paper Towns by John Green and Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. As for TV I totally geek out over Doctor Who and Lost. Music I will listen to pretty much anything. There are genres I'm not particularly fond of such as jazz, blues, and rap, but there are always exceptions to those.
I'm really excited about this and I'd love to write more but I have an English essay due tomorrow and kind of feel like it needs to get done. Which reminds me, the essay is on a prompt form a Shakespeare play, I LOVE Shakespeare. So much. I think it's because the literary and theatre sides of me just come together and unite in a common love. I wen to the Globe Theatre this summer and was just in awe the entire time. But that's another story for another day.
Hope every one's well!
DFTBA,
Kim
