NOTE: There is currently a huge ice storm (at least I think that's what it is... Honestly, I have no clue it's some kind of precipitation that causes power outages) occurring where I am and everyone on Facebook is saying that we're probably not going to have power tomorrow which is why I'm posting this so early
HELLO, and welcome to the League of Extraordinary Nerds, a collaborative blog of 5 nerds who met through an extraordinary (I don't know what to call it because it's so much bigger than just a website or a youtube channel so I'll call it a 'thing') thing called Nerdfighteria. My name is Chuck and I will be blogging every Monday. The great thing about being Monday is that you get to (as Colin says) "set the tone for how the project will continue forward and if you mess it up it will set a standard of mediocrity for everyone else."
Thanks for the support buddy!
Anyway, the names of my fellow bloggers are Kim, Colin, Emily and Caitlin. Emily will be posting tomorrow, Caitlin on Wednesday, Kim on Thursday, and Colin on Friday.
Now I'm supposed to tell you about me and what makes me me...
Well you already know that my name is Chuck. I am 16 years old. I was born and raised in upstate New York (I know that most people hate where they grew up but I think I lucked out). I'm a Junior in high school. I'm gay. And I'm really short (4'11 to be exact). Some things that I like include music, movies, books, and politics (not-so-interesting fact #1: I was literally two feet away from Bill Clinton last Thursday!! It was probably one of the most amazing moments of my life. I'll include some really blurry pictures I took on my iPod at the end).
Some of my favorite bands at the moment are Tokyo Police Club (not-so-interesting fact #2: I'm going to go see these guys in about a month and words cannot describe how excited I am... Seriously, I almost peeled over in ecstasy when I found out they were coming to my town), and Noah and The Whale (not-so-interesting fact #3: their new album leaked a week ago and it's GOOOOOOOOOOOOD I would definitely recommend it).
Some of my favorite movies are An Education (not-so-interesting fact #4: one of the actors in An Education, Colin Firth, just won an Academy Award for his role in The Kings Speech, which was amazing), and Conversations With Other women (not-so-interesting fact #5: One of the actresses from The Kings Speech is also in this... I swear that this is purely coincidence, she also plays Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies).
Some of my favorite books are the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, The Screwed Up Life of Charlie the Second by Drew Ferguson (not-so-interesting fact #6: my name is Charles... and my father's name is Charles, so when I tell people about how much I love this book they usually think that I'm making it up) and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (not-so-interesting fact #7: this book is being made into a movie, with Emma Watson [who plays Hermione in the Harry Potter movies for those who didn't know... but how could you not know that...] playing Sam) (not-so-interesting fact #8: I found out about not-so-interesting fact #7 the same day I found out about not-so-interesting fact #2. It was a great day. I was geeking-out hardcore).
I am a Liberal, although I wouldn't consider myself a democrat simply because the very first President of the United States advised against political parties, and I agree with him. It's splitting our country right down the middle and that just makes no sense. I am also extremely patriotic, but don't mistake this for a belief in American Exceptionalism. I don't think my country is perfect or better than any other country on the planet, I'm just very fond of it. :)
I believe this is as in-depth as I can get. Emily I look forward to reading your post tomorrow.
DFTBA,
Chuck
