Hello everyone! I am super super excited to finally be writing.
My name is Emily. I'm 17 years old. I live in Denver, CO. Chuck said yesterday that most people hate where they grew up, but I guess I'm not most people because I love where I live. I moved here when I was 8 years old, the same year my parents decided to homeschool me. I'm now a senior in high school and I've been homeschooled since 3rd grade.
In answer to your questions: yes, I can do school in pajamas, and Yes, I have friends.
Music is my life. I play the piano and sing, but my main instrument is the cello, which I've been playing for five years now. When I go to college next year, it'll be as a music education major. Why education? Well, I love music, and I can't imagine a better way to share it with other people than to help pass on my love for it to the next generation. I live and breathe music. It's my passion; it's my life.
I listen to a variety of stuff. (Chuck wrote about some of his favorite bands so I'm allowed to, right?) I like classical, jazz, pop, rock, and even rap-- I'll listen to anything that I think is good, regardless of genre. Right now I've been listening to a lot of progressive bluegrass: Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, Nickel Creek, etc.
Okay, enough about music.
As for books, I have way too many favorites, but my list includes Harry Potter (of course) and the Books of Pellinor by Alison Croggon. Also, almost anything by C.S. Lewis, fiction or non-fiction. I'm currently reading That Hideous Strength for the first time.
Favorite movies? Don't even get me started.
I love to write. I write mostly poetry but I sometimes work on novels (I've yet to finish one, though). I've been trying to keep up my own blog, which you can check out here: http://iambeginnings.blogspot.com It's not terribly interesting but I figured I'd link to it anyway, just in case anyone's interested.
I'm a Christian, and I consider myself a Conservative (although among my Christian-conservative-homeschooled friends, I probably seem quite liberal).
One more thing you should know about me: I write really slow when I know people are going to read what I write. It took me forever to write this. I had hopes of posting this shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, but it's now almost 2am. With luck, this blogging thing will help me write faster. Maybe.
Anyway, I'm glad this blog is happening. I'm excited to get to know my fellow nerdfighters!
DFTBA,
Emily

ReplyDeleteHi. I've never read a blog with multiple authors, so I thought I should just throw that out there. I know Emily.
