Happy St. Patrick's Day!
*insert fun intro that I cannot currently think of* and now on to questions!
What's your favorite birthday memory?
I've never really been one to make a big deal out of birthdays, (until now that is, for some reason I am ridiculously excited to turn 18 tomorrow!) I mean I always celebrate in some fashion but usually just something fairly low key, so I can't really think of any one memory that stands out amongst the rest as being my favorite. My favorite part of birthdays though is just getting to be with friends and family and eating some good cake. I enjoy cake :)
What drew you to Nerdfighteria?
Soccer. Wondering how that connects? Well one of my friends I originally met at soccer, then she showed me a charlieissocoollike video, which lead me to fiveawesomeguys, to fiveawesomegirls, to vlogbrothers. What kept me interested was the Green brothers' ability to create thoughtful and yet entertaining videos and how through that they've brought so many people from all over the world together.
Random story time! When I was typing fiveawesomegirls I missed the "r" and that made me think of what it would be like if there were five fish who made a collab called fiveawesomegils.
What colour would you paint the sky?
The colour/color debate got me wondering which way it's spelt in Canada because honestly I spell it both ways. So I found a site that compares the common spelling of words in British, Canadian, and American and basically what I learnt from that is in Canada you can pretty much spell however you want. For colour in Canada it said colour and color are both accepted but that colour is more common which I feel is pretty true. There's an art store called Colours and their slogan is "We put the u in colours" it's a cute store.
Now on to the actual question!
Now on to the actual question!
I'm a fan of the blue but reds are also beautiful in the sky :) There's a couple pictures I want to put in here but technology doesn't seem to like me much today... I'll see if I can get it figured out though. I got it! :D One of the things I love about where I live, always a beautiful sky!
Where has been your favourite place you've traveled to?
A few places immediately come to mind. Disneyworld of course, I've been there four times in my life so far and I just can't get enough! I've also been to Disneyland a couple times but between the two I'd pick Disneyworld. There's just something about the magic of Diseny that can't be beat. Then this summer I went on a two week trip to London and Edinburgh and it was a trip I will never forget. I was only in London for two days but I fell in love with the city and know I'll go back there someday. Edinburgh was really interesting for me because while I was there I actually saw a lot of similarities between it and here so I felt right at home in the city despite all the differences there were as well. And to top it off I was in Edinburgh for Fringe which was a dream come true. Fringe just takes over the city and it's phenominal to be in that kind of energy and atmosphere, with so much theatre to go watch! If you love theatre you must go to the Edinburgh Fringe at some point in your life.
In a utopian society that you create, what role, if any, would emperor penguins play in it?
Have any of you read His Dark Materials Trilogy? If yes, emperor penguins as the armoured bears. Now if we're talking adelie penguins they'd be like Hobbits... :)
Theme
There's a lot of big issues contributing to world suck and it's important to do what we can, for example three years in a row I participated in the Relay For Life, the proceeds of which go to cancer research. But I feel like it's not only the big issues that are important. How much better could this world be if people were happier and more optimistic? Putting a smile on your face when your tired and grumpy or hugging a friend when they're sad is such a small thing to do but if everyone did that it would make a world of difference. Maybe it wouldn't solve world hunger or global warming but creating friendship and community will cause people to be more receptive to helping others and reciprocating the kindness they're shown.
DFTBA,
-Kim
Sorry I don't know what happened with the formatting! Sooo many spaces! Haha maybe one of these days I'll have an acceptable relationship with technology :P
ReplyDeleteLOL @Fiveawesomegils
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Kim! You're just a few months ahead of me....
ReplyDeleteI never said Happy Birthday to you! D: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
ReplyDeletePostscript: I was just looking at this again and if that picture of the blue sky is Edmonton then it's RIDICULOUSLY beautiful.
Thanks guys :)
ReplyDeleteHaha and yes that is Edmonton, we generally have super nice summers (even if they're short lived) to make up for the terrible winters. Also that picture makes me think of the movie Meet the Robinsons :)
