What Kim has to say about Harry Potter

(Sorry Kim, I couldn't think of a better title.)
--
This Friday marks the release of the final Harry Potter film. It's weird, like it's finally coming to an end. I know the series ended a while ago but while there would be no more books there at least would be the movies. Now all there is to wait for is Pottermore... right, well I won't get into that, suffice it to say Alex Day summed it up nicely in a YouTube video.

There is a theme of growth within the Harry Potter world. As children we began to read the books. A few years between each one and we've grown. In the story Harry grows as well. He becomes a friend who we grow up with and that is why his fans are so connected to. We did not read about him, we read and grew with him. Sitting at home our minds walk the halls of Hogwarts, stepping along through the trials and tribulations.

The fandom has grown as well. It has progressed from individuals reading to people connecting and sharing the joy and love together. Maturing and growing along with Harry.

To me the power of Harry Potter not only lies in the story but in how the story has been read and told.

This movie marks the end of our ability to grow with Harry. His story reaches its conclusion. However the tale of those who love him is not over yet. That is a tale which will never end. This may be the end for Harry and that brings sadness but it is not the end for us. We are entering a chapter where we become the protagonists and it is our responsibility to carry on what he began.

Inside everyone is light and dark, always let the light and love be what guides you and the Death Eaters of this world won't stand a chance.

DFTBA,

-Kim
