A Late Post

Sorry for the late post, everyone. I've been on a cruise ship for the past week, and internet access cost $.75 a minute. Needless to say, I went without internet for a week.

So anyway, summer stuff! As I mentioned, I've been on a cruise. It was pretty great, especially since I've never done anything like it before. We first drove from Denver to Seattle (two full days of driving), and then left from Seattle on the ship to cruise up the coast to Alaska.

It. Was. Amazing. I'll share a few pictures so you can kind of get the idea of what it was like.

We saw glaciers, whales, mountains, sea lions and plenty of other stuff you don't exactly get to see every day. It's been pretty much amazing. For a Colorado girl, just seeing the ocean is a treat. Ocean plus mountains...well. It doesn't get better than that.

Being on the ship was pretty great too, as you're pretty much pampered every second of the day. There's a guy assigned to clean your room every time you leave it. Two waiters for your table at dinner. A buffet with really good food open 24/7. Free ice cream, pizza, and hamburgers. (I definitely gained a few pounds).

Overall, it was a great experience. I've never been on a cruise before (and probably won't again for a looong time). One cool thing about the cruise line is that they make a point of employing people from a variety of countries, so you could meet people from England, Italy, Jamaica, the Philippines, Russia, Romania, Canada, Australia, and plenty of others. I liked that.

By the way, Kim, we stopped in Canada for about 5 hours yesterday. I absolutely loved it. I will definitely go back if I ever get the chance.

Okay, well, I've probably said more about my trip than you guys really wanted to hear, but there you go. Sorry again for the post being late. It might happen again next week, because we'll be at my cousin's house in rural Washington and I don't know what kind of internet access we'll have.

DFTBA,
Emily

P.S. There was a Sarah Palin store in Skagway, Alaska. When my dad pointed it out, my brother said, "Ooh! Let's get one!"

  2. You mean in Canada? We were in Victoria, BC. (According to Google maps, it's about a 16.5 hour drive from there to Edmonton). It's such a beautiful city! I was sad that we only had a few hours to walk around; I could have spent a week there.

As for the other ports, we stopped in Ketchikan, Skagway, and Juneau AK.
