Honestly, I don't know what to post about. I was really hoping that by now one of you would have asked me a question I could answer, but now I have to come up with an idea all by myself. So harddddddddddddd. Bleh.
Um. Here is a poem I wrote about the fires here in Colorado.
What hellish feet among the aspen,
what
vicious hands
casting demon shade
across the cruel, red-robed general
of the sky–
have mercy, O god of flame!
The moon weeps. She bends
to us, a bloodshot eye
drained of healing tears
and
watches the armies march on.
You write such beautiful poetry :) What's your writing/creative process like when you do - does it just sort of come or do you spend a lot of time working and reworking things like structure and word choice, etc.?
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! Usually it starts with a single phrase or idea, something that pops into my head, and grows from there. I always wait for inspiration when I write poetry (so I don't write it very often), but when it comes to the actual writing it can sometimes take several days and multiple drafts to craft it into what I want it to be.
